The Transfort Optimization Plan was developed to make the best use of available funding while providing the transit service our community needs. Rising costs for staffing, fuel and maintenance mean that maintaining the same level of service provided in 2019 would require about $3 million more each year. The plan uses community feedback, data analysis and transit industry best practices to focus resources where they can have the greatest impact.
Through surveys, outreach events, focus groups and presentations, community members identified more frequent service, simple and direct routes, improved reliability and stronger connections as top priorities. Many also expressed a desire for a transit system that is easier to understand and better serves those who rely on public transportation.
Phase 1 changes were implemented on August 17, 2026. The updated network provides more frequent service on key routes and uses a simpler, grid-based design intended to improve frequency, reliability and connections while staying within available resources. Dial-A-Ride Changes
As Transfort’s fixed-route network changed, the Dial-A-Ride service area changed along with it.
- Dial-A-Ride service is available from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and no longer operates on Sundays.
- Dial-A-Taxi vouchers are valued at $15 each, and the Dial-A-Taxi service area expanded to include the Fort Collins Growth Management Area (GMA).
- Existing Dial-A-Ride clients who are now outside the new service area maintain their eligibility for door-to-door service.
New Features Available to Dial-A-Ride Clients!
Dial-A-Ride clients can now sign up for text or voice notifications that provide helpful reminders. These notifications can remind clients about upcoming trips, alert them when their vehicle is on the way and alert them to important information. Call 970-416-8042 to sign up!
We’ve also launched the Dial-A-Ride Passenger Portal, offering clients a convenient way to manage their transportation online. Through the portal, clients can make trip reservations and manage their upcoming trips without having to call the reservation line.
These new tools are an important step toward giving Dial-A-Ride clients more flexibility and control over their trips – while also helping us modernize the way we deliver paratransit service.
